The sūtra says: “Pervasively adorned.” This refers to imputing that this spiritual self is able to produce all dharmas. Yet the noble and pervasively adorned affairs of the world are what I do; this differs slightly from the imputation of Īśvara. As the treatise refutes Īśvara, saying: “Why does Īśvara not make everyone happy, or make everyone suffer? Since there are those who suffer and those who are happy, one must know this arises from attachment and aversion, hence he is not autonomous.” Now, since the pervasively adorned one can produce all blessings and joy, yet cannot ward off suffering with joy, how can he be called pervasively eternal and autonomous?
