以慈攝也，如父囑子拊背而告。此有三意：一、安慰其心令無恐懼；二、囑其諦受令無忘失；三、示今許說無有虛妄。故舒其手現慈相也。

He gathers him in with compassion, like a father instructing his son, patting his back and speaking to him. This has three meanings: first, to comfort his mind so that he has no fear; second, to enjoin him to receive it attentively so that he does not forget it; third, to show that what is now promised to be taught is without falsehood. Therefore, extending his hand reveals a compassionate posture.
