First the light, next the seeing, and last the fist. It does not follow the order of the question because this is convenient for the text. Jāmbūnada gold is properly called *jambū-nada*; this is the name of a river in the Western Regions. The river is near that tree, and the gold comes from that river; thus the river is named after the tree, and the gold is named after the river. Alternatively, it is said that the juice of the jambū fruit turns objects into gold upon contact; flowing into the river, it dyes the stones into gold. Its color is reddish-yellow, tinged with a purple flame. The *Guanjing shu* states: 'Jāmbūnada gold surpasses purple-refined gold hundreds of thousands of times; only the sages know it.' The radiance of the Buddha's body is like an accumulation of suns, whereas purple-refined gold is certainly not like this. *Xi* (赩) is pronounced with the fanqie *xu-li*; it means an intense red color.
