What he returns to is the aggregate of consciousness. Previously he grasped what he returned to as his own body; now he identifies what he returns to as the nature of another, thereby suspecting that his own body and all dharmas arise from it. The 'ground whence all originates and flows forth' is the aggregate of consciousness. Falsely identifying it as another that is true, permanent, and free from arising and ceasing—'confused about the non-arising' means that fundamental awakening permanently abides and does not produce dharmas, but he is deluded and does not understand it. 'Deluded about arising and ceasing' means falsely identifying the aggregate of consciousness as truly permanent. Not knowing either of them, it is called 'deep delusion.' Tenaciously grasping without turning back, it is called 'resting stably.'
