佛於小乘方便教，說諸因緣法，今明第一義諦，因緣、自然皆為戲論，故此牒而徵之。
The Buddha, in the provisional teachings of the Hīnayāna, spoke of dharmas of causes and conditions; now, to clarify the truth of the primary meaning, both causes and conditions and self-so are frivolous conceptual proliferation, so here he cites and questions them.
