先破根生，此離塵無體破也。初一句牒，於汝下五句正破能生。由法生故種種心生，若無法塵，意根不起。離緣下二句例破所生，離前法緣，尚無根之形貌，況所生識，將何起用？

First refuting production from the faculty: this refutes through absence of substance apart from dust. The first sentence restates. The five sentences from 'within your' directly refute the generator: because dharmas arise, various minds arise; if there are no dharma-dusts, the mind faculty does not arise. The two sentences from 'separated from' refute the produced by analogy: apart from preceding dharma conditions, there is not even the form of the faculty; how much less could the generated consciousness initiate any function?
