3.521

Vast space is within my mind yet is like a small object in the palm; when one further looks at the minute substance of what was born, how does its size compare to the mind? Therefore it cites a single speck of dust in space, whose presence or absence can hardly be discerned, as a simile for the utmost smallness. From 'like a serene' down, it again cites a bubble as a simile for understanding that the body is fundamentally unarisen. The former simile still retains the aspect of smallness, while the present simile shows that appearances are fundamentally unarisen; thus these two similes each illustrate a distinct meaning.
