4.410

身之質礙，由見聞知織水火風，執取滯著，壅翳不通，遂現四微形相體質。身之覺知，由水火性織彼妄見，旋轉移易，還復交替，分成六根覺聞知見，如緯織經，互相參雜，故名為濁。前則業轉，今現相也。

The material obstruction of the body is caused by seeing, hearing, and knowing intertwining with water, fire, and wind; grasping and clinging, they become blocked and opaque, whereupon the forms and substances of the four subtle elements appear. The sensing and cognising of the body are caused by the natures of water and fire intertwining with that false seeing; revolving, changing, returning, and alternating, they divide into the sensing, hearing, knowing, and seeing of the six sense faculties, like the weft woven through the warp, mutually mingled. Hence it is called 'turbid'. The preceding was the karmic transformation; this is the appearance of marks.
