If considered in terms of the unobstructed faculties of a Buddha, all six faculties achieve perfect penetration. This is just as the Aṅgulimālīya Sūtra states: 'That so-called eye faculty, in all tathāgatas, is permanent, completely cultivated without decrease, clearly and distinctly seeing.' The same is said for all faculties up to the sixth; hence it is said, 'there is also neither superior nor inferior.' From 'But you...' downward, it considers inferior faculties and the necessity of choosing: if a faculty is not an essential shortcut, cultivating for kalpas yields no benefit; but if one gains the perfect door, a single day's effort will be doubly superior. Hence, when one faculty returns to the source, the six faculties are purified.
