The hearing of seeing, hearing, sensing, and knowing exists following sound; it is not the original nature. As the text above says: 'Just as you now listen to my Dharma, this is having discrimination because of sound,' and so forth. If one can leave conditions and contemplate the nature, the appearance of hearing does not arise, the realms of movement and stillness vanish, and one is not bound by subject and object; hence it is called liberation. Once bondage cannot be found, liberation cannot be named either. Since one faculty is like this, all six faculties are as well.
