The initial emergence of the world originally arose from falsehood; because of falsehood there is movement, movement is wind, and wind is vapor; hence it is said, 'by combining with vapors there are formed.' Being confused about the principle of perfect constancy, false thinking is formed; thought and vapor combine to form the egg-born. Therefore the moving thought comes first, and the egg-born are placed at the beginning. Because of this, the species are eighty-four thousand; the conventional establishment of the mundane world temporarily offers this number, but in principle they are immeasurable. 'Kalala' is translated here as 'coagulated slime,' which is the first stage upon entering the womb, before womb and egg are distinguished. Fish, birds, turtles, and snakes are the classes that fly and sink.
