7.201

虛妄影象似有如無，信憶則靈，絕信則否。蹈跡附影之類，皆從憶想所生。因即外道凡夫祈神禱祠，存形立影，終身奉事。志慕神通，精靈嚮附。因果相酬，必生其類。

False shadows appear as if existent yet non-existent; if believed in and recollected they are efficacious, but if faith is severed they are not. Those that tread upon traces and attach to shadows are all born from recollective thought. The cause is heterodox ordinary people praying to spirits and offering sacrifices, preserving forms and setting up images, serving them throughout their lives. Their intent aspires to supernormal powers, and apparitions respond and attach to them. Cause and effect reciprocate, and they are inevitably born into this class.
