8.384

"Sixth is the habit of guile, mutually defrauding, arising from mutual deception. Calumny and deception not ceasing, the mind takes flight to concoct wickedness. Thus, there are dust and dirt, feces and urine, and filthy impurities. Just as dust follows the wind so that none can see one another, as the two habits are added together, there are thus events such as sinking and drowning, flying up and tossing, soaring and plunging, and drifting away. Therefore, all the tathāgatas of the ten directions characterize deceit and guile unanimously as 'brigands and killers.' Bodhisattvas regard guile as if treading upon poisonous vipers."
