「一者明見，則能遍見種種惡物，生無量畏；二者暗見，寂然不見，生無量恐。如是見火，燒聽能為鑊湯洋銅；燒息能為黑煙、紫焰；燒味能為燋丸、鐵糜；燒觸能為熱灰、鑪炭；燒心能生星火，迸灑煽鼓空界。」

"First, seeing light, one is able to see everywhere all manner of evil things, giving rise to boundless fright. Second, seeing darkness, one sees nothing in stillness, giving rise to boundless terror. Such fire of seeing, when burning hearing, can become boiling cauldrons and molten copper; when burning breath, it can become black smoke and purple flames; when burning taste, it can become scorched pellets and iron mush; when burning touch, it can become hot ashes and furnace embers; when burning the mind, it can produce sparks of fire that spatter and fan the empty realms."
