耳根所取動靜二境，造種種業，今受其報亦緣此二。開即動也，閉即靜也。如是下歷根別受。此文之中以根對境有所參差，將恐梵文迴互，譯者隨而弗審。如雷吼、毒氣非眼所取，雨霧、毒虫非鼻家境，餘文則順，有智自詳。

The ear faculty seizes upon the two realms of motion and stillness, creating all manner of karmas; now undergoing their retribution, it is likewise conditioned by these two. Opened is motion; closed is stillness. "As these..." onward traces the separate undergoings through the faculties. In this passage, the pairings of faculties and realms show some discrepancy; it is to be feared that the Sanskrit text had inversions which the translator followed without examining. For instance, thunder, roaring, and poisonous fumes are not objects apprehended by the eye; rain, mist, and toxic insects are not the domain of the nose. The rest of the passage is coherent; the wise will examine it for themselves.
