8.520

「阿難當知，若用錢物，或役其力，償足自停。如於中間殺彼身命，或食其肉，如是乃至經微塵劫相食相誅。猶如轉輪互為高下，無有休息，除奢摩他及佛出世，不可停寢。」

"Ānanda, you should know: if money and goods were used, or their labor was employed, when the compensation is sufficient it will naturally cease. But if in the process they killed their bodily lives or ate their flesh, then in this way, even throughout kalpas numerous as dust motes, they will eat and slay each other, like a turning wheel taking turns being high or low without any rest; unless through śamatha or the appearance of a Buddha in the world, it cannot be brought to an end."
