此喻鈍根觀力微弱，雖受陰盡，有成就聖位之分，然不破想陰，故如熟寐寱言也。音韻倫次者，如有成就聖位分也。無別所知，想陰蓋故。不寐人者，如證聖人，則知此人已有昇進聖位之分。《般若》云「如來悉知悉見是人，皆得成就阿耨菩提也。」

This is a metaphor for one of dull faculties whose power of contemplation is weak: although the aggregate of feeling is exhausted and they have a share in achieving the holy stages, yet because they have not broken through the aggregate of perception, it is like sleep-talking in a deep slumber. 'Tone, rhythm, and sequence' is like having a share in achieving the holy stages. 'Having no other knowledge' is because of the cover of the aggregate of perception. 'Those who are awake' are like realized sages, who know that this person already has a share in advancing into the holy stages. The Prajñā [sūtra] says: 'The Tathāgata fully knows and fully sees that these people all attain the achievement of anuttara-bodhi.'
