The wondrous, enlightened, and bright mind is of the same substance as the Buddha, originally free from delusion; because of forced awareness, suddenly recognizing an objectified mark, there is the arising of delusion. Now that the Buddha has attained the wondrous, empty, and bright mind, when could all delusions suddenly arise again? This takes up his point and concedes it for the sake of argument, rebuking it with the fallacy of infinite regress. This is the same as Vajragarbha's saying: "Ordinary beings of the ten directions originally completed the Buddha path, and later gave rise to avidyā; when will all Tathāgatas give rise to all afflictions again?"
