If one can extinguish conditions and illuminate within, not chasing external dust, then since the dust is not conditioned, the faculties have nothing with which to pair. Turning the flow back and unifying into one, the six functions do not operate; pure awareness manifests before one, and quiescent illumination clearly shines forth. This then is guarding the true and constant, where faculties and dusts dissolve and fall away. Conceptual appearances are the sensory sphere; emotional clinging is the faculties. The three—faculties, spheres, and consciousnesses—can all defile and obstruct prajñā. When one cannot clearly understand non-arising dharmas, they are called 'dust and defilement.' Now, since these are far removed, one clearly sees dharmas, which is the realization of the forbearance of non-arising dharmas; hence it says "your Dharma-eye will immediately become clear and luminous," and for great bodhi, this can indeed be hoped for.
