1.26

「救危拔苦為用」者，以舍離病苦危若倒懸，以大悲救拔令平復如本，雖亦與樂，拔苦為正。

"Rescuing from peril and uprooting suffering constitute the function": because the illness and suffering of the people of Vaiśālī were perilous as hanging upside down, [the bodhisattva] rescued and uprooted them with great compassion, causing them to recover their original state. Although [the function] also bestows joy, uprooting suffering is the primary focus.
