Regarding the note from "bodhisattva assembly" downwards, the sūtra should be divided into four parts: 1. the number, 2. the praise, 3. the names, and 4. the conclusion. "In terms of the cause": for instance, in the perfect teaching, from the initial resolve directed at the non-contrived to the fulfillment of marginal wisdom at equal enlightenment, all is termed the cause. "Adjacent to the fruition": the Buddha fruition is like the moon on the fifteenth day, while equal enlightenment is like the moon on the fourteenth day, being closely adjacent. From "great wisdom" downwards, it collectively explains four phrases. This understanding and practice are both at the stage of partial realization of reality. "Equipped with eyes and feet": having eyes, one can see, which is a metaphor for understanding; having feet, one can walk, which is a metaphor for practice. The eyes guide the feet's walking, and thus there is an arrival. The "cool pool" is a metaphor for the nirvāṇa of the three virtues.
