若自有緣事，欲說付僧者，當自來僧中說云：「大德僧聽！我某甲比丘，如法僧事，與欲清淨。」《四分》無文。《僧祇》云：病比丘與比房比丘欲，不受之，即自入僧中上座前說。佛言：善作，如法。但不受者得罪。

If one has personal business and wishes to speak and entrust it to the saṃgha, one should personally come into the saṃgha and speak, saying: 'May the venerable saṃgha listen! I, bhikṣu so-and-so, grant chanda and purity for the legal affairs of the saṃgha.' In the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya there is no explicit text. The Mahāsāṃghika Vinaya states: A sick bhikṣu gave chanda to a monk in an adjacent room who would not accept it; he then personally entered into the saṃgha and spoke before the sthavira. The Buddha said: 'Well done, it is according to the Dharma. Only the one who did not accept it incurs an offense.'
