文明總法。應令一人具儀唱云：「大德僧聽！我比丘為僧唱大界四方內外相。前唱內相。從小牆東南角外角，穿小牆西出，旁大牆內至西南角內角；從此旁牆北下，穿小牆西頭，過至小牆西北角外角；從此旁小牆東下，至小牆東北角外角；從此南出，還至小牆東南角外角。此是大界內相一周訖。次唱外相。從寺院外牆東南角外角，直西至南門東頰外土棱；隨屈曲北入至門限裏棱；西下至門西頰限頭；隨限屈曲南出，至門西頰外土棱；從此西下，至西南角外角；從此北下，至西北角外角；從此東下，至東北角外角；從此南下，還至東南角外角。此是大界外相一周已。彼為內相，此為外相。此是大界內外相一周。」如是三遍已，告僧云：「已唱大界內外相訖。」

The text explains the combined method: One should have one person, fully observing deportment, proclaim: 'May the venerable saṃgha listen! I, the bhikṣu, proclaim for the saṃgha the inner and outer marks of the great boundary on the four sides. First, I proclaim the inner marks: From the southeast outer corner of the small wall, piercing through the small wall westward, along the inside of the great wall to the southwest inner corner; from here, running north along the wall, passing through the west end of the small wall to the northwest outer corner of the small wall; from here, running east along the small wall to the northeast outer corner of the small wall; from here, exiting south back to the southeast outer corner of the small wall. This completes one circuit of the inner marks of the great boundary. Next, I proclaim the outer marks: From the southeast outer corner of the outer compound wall of the monastery, straight west to the southern gate's eastern jamb's outer earthen ledge; following the bend north to enter the inner ledge of the threshold; running west to the edge of the threshold at the western jamb of the gate; following the bend of the threshold south to the outer earthen ledge of the western jamb of the gate; from here, running west to the southwest outer corner; from here, running north to the northwest outer corner; from here, running east to the northeast outer corner; from here, running south back to the southeast outer corner. This completes one circuit of the outer marks of the great boundary. Those are the inner marks, and these are the outer marks. This is one circuit of the inner and outer marks of the great boundary.' Having done this three times, he announces to the saṃgha, 'The proclamation of the inner and outer marks of the great boundary is completed.'
