2.34

略分四別：一者戒法，此即體通出離之道。二者戒體，即謂出生眾行之本。三者戒行，謂方便修成，順本受體。四者戒相，即此篇所明，亘通篇聚。

There are roughly four divisions: first, the precept rule, which in substance permeates the path of liberation; second, the precept essence, which refers to the root that generates the multitude of practices; third, the precept practice, which refers to cultivation accomplished through expedients in accord with the originally received essence; fourth, the precept features, which are what this chapter clarifies, extending through all classes and categories of offenses.
