《三千威儀》：上高座讀經，先禮佛，次禮經法及上座；後在座正坐，向上座坐；楗稚聲絕，先讚偈唄，如法而說；若不如法問，不如法聽，便止。

The Three Thousand Deportments states: Ascending the high seat to chant sūtras, first pay homage to the Buddha, next pay homage to the Dharma of the sūtras and the elders, and then sit upright on the seat facing the elders. When the sound of the gaṇḍī ceases, first recite praises and verses in chanting, and expound according to the Dharma. If people ask not according to the Dharma or listen not according to the Dharma, one should simply stop.
