Third, clarifying repeated offenses. Dharmaguptaka: precepts can be repeatedly received, and can also be repeatedly violated. The text states: "As before, so too afterward." Regarding bhikṣuṇīs with physical contact, it says: "With each contact, there is a separate pārājika." The Daśādhyāya: offenses are not repeated, because precepts cannot be repeatedly received. Having committed a violation of the celibacy precept, if one violates celibacy again, it is a duṣkṛta; if one commits stealing, killing, or major false speech, one still incurs the three grave offenses. The text states: "A bhikṣuṇī undergoing training in repentance who commits a saṃghāvaśeṣa invites bhikṣus to come and grant her mānatva, rehabilitation, etc." In the lower classes of offenses, it accords with their gravity; in the primary class, subsequent violations are merely duṣkṛta. The Mahāsāṃghika is also like this.
