《五分》，無疑心，以疑通是非故，有犯結正；彼《律》云：是女疑、蟲疑、草木疑，皆隨犯殘、提。想是決徹，若境心不相當者，不犯；如《四分》破僧、淫戒、受戒，不開知疑，餘則通開，餘如〈隨相〉。

In the Pañcavargika-vinaya, there is no doubting mind, because doubt spans both correct and incorrect; where there is a transgression, the primary offense is constituted. That Vinaya says: whether there is doubt regarding a woman, doubt regarding insects, or doubt regarding grass and trees, in all cases one incurs a saṃghāvaśeṣa or a pāyattika in accordance [with the act]. Perception involves definitive determination: if the objective realm and the mind do not correspond, one does not commit an offense. As in the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya, where for causing a schism in the saṃgha, the precept against sexual intercourse, and receiving upasampadā, there is no allowance for knowingly harboring doubt, whereas for the remainder [the allowance] generally applies; the rest is as set forth in "Individual Marks [of Transgression]".
