Precept 10: Excessively and impatiently demanding the price of a robe. Five conditions constitute the offense: First, a donor sends treasures. Second, to be used for trading for a robe. Third, entrusting a person to trade it. Fourth, demanding it beyond the limit. Fifth, obtaining it in hand immediately constitutes the offense. Regarding non-offenses in the Vinaya: if [the donor] sends a messenger to inform him, or if that person says, "There is no need to make the gift immediately," the bhikṣu should demand the robe opportunely with gentle words and skillful means. If it was given in order to provide for requisites, and by demanding it opportunely with gentle words and skillful means he obtains it, there is no offense.
