Precept 9: Encouraging two families to increase the price of a robe. The conditions of the prohibition are the same as before, differing only in encouraging the combination of two families. The Pañcavargika-vinaya even states that encouraging a husband and wife to join together to make one robe is also a niḥsargika-pāyattika. In the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya: concerning contentment, if given fine [cloth], saying, "I live in an araṇya, practice dhūta, and reside in the forest," and requesting what is inferior or coarse, both commit a forfeiture (because one praises one's own virtues with speech).
