Precept 43: Forcibly sitting in a dining family's house. Among the four kinds of foods, this is the family of contact food; the eye faculty confronts forms, hence it is called contact food. The Pañcavargika-vinaya [states]: Men and women mutually consuming each other through passion. The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya [states]: Seeing forms and becoming lovingly attached, hence it is called "eating." Four conditions: first, it is a dining family; second, knowing it to be so; the Daśādhyāya-vinaya [states]: If it is a family that has severed sexual indulgence, or a family observing upavasatha, where men and women mutually observe the one-day precepts, it is not an offense; third, forcibly sitting in a screened place; the Pañcavargika-vinaya [states]: The one sitting knows it obstructs their affairs; the Daśādhyāya-vinaya [states]: In this house where many people enter and exit, it is not an offense; fourth, there is no fourth person; the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya [states]: Mother, daughter, or sister also incur an offense. The Vinaya says "possessing precious things"; the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya-vibhāṣā [states]: Because of wearing precious garments, which are light and transparent, giving rise to lust.
