Third: fields, land, gardens, forests, dwellings, and so forth. The Dharmaguptaka Vinaya states: saṃghārāmas and fruit trees belonging to saṃghārāmas; individual rooms and items belonging to individual rooms. If one donated cloth and silk to build a room for oneself, if it has already been exchanged for heavy items, it is classed as heavy; if at the time of death it is still light items, it is permitted to be distributed. If one has donated light or heavy items to the Buddha or Dharma, it is not permissible to reclaim them; because assets for the Buddha and Dharma have specific owners, they remain subject to the deceased's directions. If there are fixed adornments for the dwelling, such as screens, canopies, and false ceilings, they fall under items belonging to the room; if the rooms are apportioned locally across the three seasons without a permanent guest or master, they are maintained according to their original status; if there is no rule, the saṃgha extracts them for use as communal property. In the Daśādhyāya-vinaya: ochre earth dyes are classed as heavy; by this standard, orpiment and white clay are the same.
