引證中，初問起。使下，列釋。四義，並以故字結之。不孤獨者，三業憑他，不自有故。苦言，即所陳詞句；以自述己過，使眾聞故。初即明制相依，餘並清過；二句有已，四即無犯，三通有無。又初後生善，中二滅惡。

Under 'Citing verification', it first raises the question. From 'Enabling' onward lists the explanations. The four meanings all conclude with the word 'because'. 'Not solitary' means the three karmas rely on others and do not belong to oneself alone. 'Painful words' are the words recited; because one narrates one's own offenses, making the assembly hear them. The first clarifies mutual reliance on the regulations; the rest all purify faults. The second line addresses having offenses, the fourth having no offenses, and the third applies to both having and not having offenses. Furthermore, the first and last generate good, while the middle two eliminate evil.
