A small boundary for difficult situations has already been clarified in the chapter on 'Establishing Boundaries.' The term 'difficulties' is broad and vague, so it is briefly distinguished here. The reception [of ordination], poṣadha, retreat, and pravāraṇā all take the eight difficulties of king, thieves, water, fire, etc., and other conditions as difficulties. The addition and reduction of poṣadha and pravāraṇā are difficulties caused by quarrels in another boundary coming here. The three small boundaries take disharmony within the boundary as the difficulty. The characteristics of the conditions are distinct and must not be confused. (Many people use them incorrectly, which is why this is shown.)
