Under the seventh question: this refers to offerings obtained by the Saṅgha at the proper time and offerings present at the proper time; both of these two offerings reward the labors of the rains retreat; the two offerings at improper times are not under discussion. If between the two robes, the offering present at the proper time is restricted to those of the former rains retreat, then those of the middle and later retreats have no share, as will be clarified below. In the answer, first the text is cited to show explicit permission. Although they belong to the middle or later retreat, their merit from the rains is equal. If one breaks the rains retreat and does not complete it, one definitely does not share in the distribution. The text from "if..." onward cites rooms as an analogy. In the Vinaya, after rooms were distributed and there were still extra, guest dwelling places were permitted; thus we know that those in the middle and later rains retreats may receive rooms, which can serve as analogous evidence for distributing goods after the rains retreat.
