本部中，初科。上二可解。又下，律云：有八種因緣，捨功德衣：一去（作不還意，出去便失；由本受時，竝有要心，後違故失也。），二竟（出界作衣，作竟即失。），三不竟（出界得念，亦不作衣；亦不還衣，不竟即捨。），四失（出界作衣竟，失衣，亦失德衣。），五望斷（出界外，希望作衣；至所望處不得，望斷即失。），六聞（出界作衣竟，聞眾僧出德衣即失。），七出界（出界作衣竟，在界外眾僧，出功德衣，即失。），八共出（在界外作衣，若竟不竟，還住處，和合出功德衣。）。前五違本要心，故失；後三還因羯磨出之。問：後三與前僧和合出，有何異耶？答：前是時滿，後三不定，故不同也。

In the section on our own school, first subsection: the upper two are understandable. Below, where it says "Moreover...", the Vinaya states: there are eight conditions for relinquishing the kathina robe: (1) Departing (having the intention not to return; as soon as one departs, it is lost; because when initially receiving it, everyone has an agreement in mind, violating it later causes the loss); (2) Completion (leaving the boundary to make the robe; as soon as it is completed, it is lost); (3) Non-completion (outside the boundary, one resolves not to make the robe and also not to return the robe; by not completing it, it is relinquished); (4) Loss (having completed the robe outside the boundary, one loses the robe, and thereby also loses the kathina robe); (5) Severance of hope (leaving the boundary hoping to make a robe, but upon reaching the expected place, one does not obtain it; when hope is severed, it is lost); (6) Hearing (having completed the robe outside the boundary, upon hearing that the Saṃgha has removed the kathina robe, it is lost); (7) Crossing the boundary (having completed the robe outside the boundary, while outside the boundary the Saṃgha removes the kathina robe, it is lost); (8) Mutual removal (making the robe outside the boundary, whether completed or not, one returns to the dwelling place and in harmony they remove the kathina robe). The first five violate the original agreement of mind, and thus it is lost; the last three depend on karmavācanā to remove it. Question: How do the last three differ from the previous collective removal by the Saṃgha? Answer: The former is when the full period has elapsed, whereas the last three are not fixed in time; hence they are not the same.
