In [the section on] traveling on the road, there are two parts: first, citing the text from the precept on eating in separate assemblies. If discussed in terms of separate assemblies, traveling on the road is not an offense; here saying "one must not" is spoken with respect to stopping and staying. The reason there is no separation will be distinguished when reaching the "Concomitant Marks." From "also" onwards, determining the measurement: the first sentence refers to the treatise being broad and vague. From "this" onwards, citing the vinaya to reconcile and explain. Question: Both araṇya and traveling on the road are one krośa, yet why are their large and small sizes different? Answer: Since the various schools differ regarding araṇya, it is appropriate to take the middle; traveling on the road only appears in the Sarvāstivāda school, and in principle matches that vinaya; the Commentary states that there are reasons for the school differences, and one should adopt the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, which is this.
