In the next section: the first two persons are understandable. As for the latter person whose mind does not assemble, this means there is a matter that could be protested, and his mind does not agree to endure it. If there is definitely no matter to protest, he is the same as the first person. The passage below cites proof, the first being the text from the 'Campā Khandhaka'. In explaining a non-Dharmic yet harmonious karmavācanā, it states: 'There are those who in the same dwelling place, in the same harmony, perform a karmavācanā in one place; those who should grant chanda grant chanda, those present who may protest do not protest, but when doing a jñaptidvitīyā karmavācanā they perform a jñapticatustha karmavācanā, or when announcing this matter they act on that matter.' This text can prove outward compliance with inward opposition. The passage below is from the 'Miscellaneous Matters' chapter: it first cites Śāriputra harboring doubt and asking the Buddha. The word 'in accordance with Dharma' above is a copyist's error; that text properly reads 'not in accordance with Dharma'. The passage beginning 'Should...' is the Buddha's determination. That text states that the Buddha said he permits remaining silent, and it fully lists the fifteen kinds of silence, as cited in the 'Karmavācanā' chapter.
