Under "Explaining the Name," it first presents and shows it. "Mostly by" refers to the various texts cited below. From "Chanda means" onward, it explains and establishes it, first showing the basis of chanda. From "Only" onward, it clarifies the condition for chanda. From "Causing" onward, it clarifies the procedure for chanda. "Reaching" (da) means arriving (dao). From "Therefore" onward, it cites proofs. The treatise says "delighting in rejoicing," and the Vinaya says "generating the intention"; both are the meaning of desiring and needing. Furthermore, the Abhidharmakośa says: "Chanda is the wish and seeking for activities to be done"; the Vijñaptimātratā says: "With respect to an agreeable object, its nature is desire"; both conform to this meaning.
