In adopting and rejecting: The first section has two parts. First, up to 'all are valid,' it provisionally permits it for the moment. According to the text, there are two points: one is based on forgetting names—in the Vinaya, if one does not remember the clan name and appearance, one simply says 'multiple bhikṣus confer chanda and pariśuddhi'; next, it is modeled on not speaking, both as cited below. From 'If...' onward, second, it takes the meaning to refute and overturn it. 'In the Vinaya...' and so forth explains the meaning of the above text. Incurring an offense for forgetting or erring corresponds to the two passages above. Not being permitted without a circumstance reveals that this is not a regular exception. The above has explained and harmonized our own school. From 'Restricting...' onward advises conforming to other schools. The text appears in the next section.
