引證為三，初明違法。如猶依也。如是下，顯過。僧綱既亂，眾別行虧，三寶覆墜，故云令戒等。當下，勸順教。初二句正勸，次句制罪，下句制學。

Citing verifications is divided into three parts: first, clarifying violation of legal procedures. 'Like' (*ru*) is equivalent to 'in accordance with'. The passage beginning 'Such...' reveals the fault: when the monastic order is thrown into chaos, the practices of the assembly and individuals deteriorate, and the Triratna collapses and falls; hence it is said, 'causing the precepts...', and so forth. The passage beginning 'One should...' exhorts compliance with the teaching: the first two clauses directly exhort; the next clause institutes offenses; the bottom clause institutes study.
