Under 'two or three persons', there are three parts: first, elucidating the proper procedure, where the upper two lines state the general heading. From 'If' downward explains in detail. First, it explains exceptional procedures: that reaching four is invalid applies for the most part; pravāraṇā, however, is valid. From 'If performing' downward next shows the original station, first showing it directly. From 'Must' downward differentiates interrogating the [other] party, first explaining that repenting a pāyattika requires interrogation. Merely distinguishing between the thirty [naiḥsargika-pāyattikas] and ninety [śuddha-pāyattikas] on the basis of whether interrogation is mandatory or not mandatory still follows the old [commentaries]; if one follows the intention of the Commentary, forfeiture falls before the face-to-face saṃgha procedures; the ninety are purely face-to-face and do not necessarily require interrogation; intermediate thullaccayas definitely require interrogation, and two persons are invalid. From 'If maintaining' downward rules out that other procedures do not require it. From 'If it is' downward distinguishes what is not within their purview. From 'Must' downward urges adherence.
