羯磨中，牃緣。加減，明加內外二字，而言足一字者，未詳所以；有云外字，義通本有，則非加也。若據下示不須加。以體望相，並是外故。

In the karmavācanā, citing the circumstances: in addition and subtraction, regarding adding the two characters “inner and outer” (nei wai), as for stating that one character is added, the reason is not yet clear; some say that the character “outer” is implicitly present originally, so it is not an addition. If one relies on what is indicated below, no addition is needed. Because looking at the landmarks from the standpoint of the essence, all of them are external.
