斥世中，初正斥。若下，顯功等。可下，令準請。亦應具儀至七師前總請。旁人教云：以羯磨法，非是獨秉，必須此人證無錯謬；若論發戒，功與三師齊德，故須請之。法中，但改尊證，或云七證為別。必下，遮濫。七證之外，不煩盡請。

In rebuking worldly customs: first, it directly rebukes [them]. From "If" downwards, it reveals that their merit is equal. From "It should" downwards, it directs one to follow this in requesting. One should also possess the ritual decorum, go before the seven masters, and request them collectively. A bystander instructs, saying: "Because the karmavācanā is not conducted by one person alone, these persons are necessary to witness that there is no error; and in terms of generating the precepts, their merit and virtue are equal to those of the three masters, so they must be requested." In the formula, one merely alters it to "honored witnesses" or says "seven witnesses" to make a distinction. From "If" downwards, it prevents abuse: outside of the seven witnesses, one need not request all the rest.
