次科，初示處。今下，指時事。《壇經》云：戒場內東階設席，擬問遮難是也。以見前云若在界外，不名受具，故云順上文也。《僧祇》不言內外，故知兩通。不近不遠，望僧坐處為言。

In the next rubric, he first shows the place. Under 'Now...', he points to current practices. The Platform Scripture states: 'Setting a mat at the eastern steps inside the precept platform to prepare for questioning about impediments and difficulties' is this very thing. Because of seeing the earlier statement that if one is outside the boundary, it is not called receiving the full ordination, he says 'in accord with the text above'. The Mahāsāṃghika does not mention inside or outside, hence we know both are permissible. 'Neither near nor far' is spoken in relation to the seating place of the Saṃgha.
