In the third: The Dharmaguptaka-vinaya makes an exception for multiple persons receiving together in cases of difficult circumstances; the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya and Samantapāsādikā allow it as a standard exception. When conducting transactions nowadays, one should not insist on difficult circumstances. The eight difficulties and other circumstances are listed in detail in a later chapter, so they are only briefly indicated here. In the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya: Because Upāli had two śrāmaṇeras and wished to have them receive together, he addressed the Buddha, who consequently allowed it; the text cites the Buddha's answer. 'One assembly' refers to ten persons in total, including other instructing witnesses besides the two masters. Below the words 'receiving together', that text says 'they may not receive in a group', which is omitted here. From 'if' downwards, it excludes invalidity. That text says if two or three persons share one karmadāna master, have separate upādhyāyas, and receive together in one assembly, it is not called receiving full ordination. Compared to what is cited now, there is a slight difference in order. In the Samantapāsādikā: 'Not bowing to each other' means they do not bow reciprocally; they should bow facing each other.
