七明白召，初中，前示威儀。言如常者，同前出眾禮僧致敬等。此一單白，唯須立秉；《疏》云：諸羯磨法，威儀必同；此既坐立，極成乖別；由本僧差往外為問，事須酬對，坐和失相；如立說戒，俱是為僧，意可見也。（今行別答，先坐和已，後起作白；深乖儀相，如前所斥。）當下，次秉法。

Section 7: Clear announcement and summoning. In the first: First it shows the deportment. Saying 'as usual' is the same as the earlier coming out of the assembly, bowing to the Saṃgha, paying respects, and so forth. This single motion (jñapti) must solely be performed standing. The Commentary says: 'In all karmavācanā procedures, the deportment must be identical; here, between sitting and standing, there is extreme discrepancy. Since he was originally dispatched by the Saṃgha to go outside to interrogate, the matter requires response and reporting; sitting in harmony loses the proper form. Just as standing to recite the precepts is all for the sake of the Saṃgha, the meaning can be seen.' (Nowadays, people conduct separate responses, first sitting in harmony and then rising to make the motion; this gravely contravenes the ritual form, as rebuked previously.) From 'duly' downwards, it next performs the procedure.
