In "Preserving Both": In the Dharmaguptaka, willow twigs are not [ritually] received; in the Mahāsāṃghika, swallowing the juice must be received. Again, such as the instructing master receiving robes outside the platform (Mahīśāsaka), or being received by the precept master within the assembly (Mahāsāṃghika); the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā requires inviting an owner of purification, while the Mahīśāsaka merely orders an unspecified designation. In the Mahāsāṃghika, the owner of purification must be within three yojanas; in the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā, if he dies or enters a foreign land, one must seek another (below it says in each case "use according to one's wish"). Also, in the Samantapāsādikā, if the three robes are worn out and torn, the dharma is lost; in the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā, when the hem is broken off, and so forth; the rest may be sought out oneself.
