In citing the advanced stages, first, properly citing them. "Pure mind" refers to the first bhūmi, also called the Pramuditā-bhūmi. With non-conceptual wisdom, one regards all sentient beings equally as an only son, because there is no grasping or rejecting. "Expedients" means manifesting skillful means to liberate sentient beings. "Ten matters" refers to the ten unwholesome actions. From "Now" downward, rebuking the unwarranted assumption. "According to the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra]" refers to the verse text above. "Shu" (forgiveness/empathy) is like measuring [others by oneself]. The Mahāprajñāpāramitōpadeśa says: The force of suffering is great, while the force of pleasure is small; if a person's entire body experiences pleasure, but in a single spot a needle pricks him, all the pleasures are lost, and he feels only the pain of the prick.
