《大集》中，初示極誡。罪同等者，舉重為比；出一佛血，一劫阿鼻，何況萬億！若下，教治法。僧事即羯磨說戒。若下，出能罰之報。何以下，出不聽之意。準下，準經以責。前明初地可行十事；己是下凡，不宜僭濫。結業既重，死墮惡道，故曰冥然。

In the Mahāsaṃnipāta Sūtra, first, showing the utmost admonition. "Guilt is equal to..." adduces the gravest as a comparison; causing the blood of a single Buddha to flow leads to one kalpa in Avīci, how much more so for ten thousand kotis! From "If" downward, teaching the method of punishment. "Saṃgha matters" refers to karma-procedures and the poṣadha. From "If" downward, bringing forth the retribution for one who can punish. From "Why" downward, bringing forth the rationale for not permitting it. From "According to" downward, rebuking in accordance with the sūtra. Previously it was explained that on the first bhūmi one may perform the ten matters; but oneself is an ordinary person of lower rank, and should not overstep and presume. Once one's fettering karma is heavy, upon death one will fall into the evil destinies, hence it is said "in utter darkness."
