In the concluding lamentation, the first two sentences show the vast duration of saṃsāra. "Karmic suffering" collectively cites cause and effect; "mian" means emerging and submerging for a long time; "ji" means generating and undergoing many [retributions]. "Birth retribution" specifically shows the painful fruit; "qiong" means exhausted. From "vainly..." onward, it laments that violating the precepts leads to sinking down. Because one generates karma following deluded thoughts, it is said to be "vainly indulging". "Lacking the three goods" means having many evil causes. "Adding the three evils" means lacking good fruits. "Fu" means relying on. "Jia" means increasing. From "with..." onward, it directly laments. "Jingsheng" is like passing through worldly life. "Xi" is breath.
